"One of Cumbria's most interesting and well-presented country estates"

The Rough Guide to the Lake District 2007

On this website you will find all you need to know about the workings of this busy and diverse Estate, situated near Grange-over-Sands in the beautiful countryside of England's South Lakeland. The Holker Hall Estate is owned by Lord and Lady Cavendish and they both take an active interest in protecting the wildlife in the area and maintaining the conservation of the woodlands and parkland.

Whether you are planning a visit to the historic Holker Hall and its award winning Gardens or you fancy a thrilling day out at the Cartmel Races, this website aims to give you all the information you need for a wonderful holiday or visit to Cumbria.  You can make advanced bookings for the Races and Holker Festival online, and we have links to recommended quality accommodation in the Lake District including our Luxury Holiday Parks.

The Estate has numerous businesses in addition to opening the Cavendish family home, Holker Hall & Gardens, to the public and managing the Holker Festival. This website has information about our other businesses which include Cartmel Racecourse, Foods of Excellence, two Luxury Holiday Parks in South Lakeland and one in Scotland and the Holbeck Homes development at Barrow-in-Furness.

Holker is at the heart of 17,000 acres of rural Cumbria encompassing a major proportion of the Cartmel Peninsula. The Estate has a long tradition of farming through the craftsmanship of tenant farmers who produce cheese, honey, prime Shorthorn Beef, seasonal Venison and game and the famous Holker Saltmarsh Lamb. Information about all of our food produce and how to purchase is available on the Food Hall pages of this site.
