Visitors to this year’s Holker Garden Festival can take a step back in time and experience traditional,19th century farm life, as Old Hall Farm attend the 21st show this summer.
Catch a glimpse of this bygone era and get a taste of all things Victoriana, including traditional, steam powered farming machinery. Enjoy a special opportunity to take a ride around the Holker Parkland in a horse and cart, pulled by magnificent, 18hh shire horses and see authentic props and displays, all a part of Victorian life, as Old Hall Farm showcase a rural country scene.
Old Hall Farm in Bouth, is a historic 19th century working farm, nestled in the magnificent Cumbrian hills. Owned and worked by Alex and Charlotte Sharphouse, using traditional methods to grow its crops and harvest the land; horse power, alongside steam and early vintage tractors is the way the farm is operated. Manual labour, old techniques and hard work is the key to this traditional farm. All animal feed and bedding is made and harvested on the farm and historic buildings house a herd of Hereford beef cattle and a dairy herd to produce a new range of Old Hall Farm dairy products.
The Holker Garden Festival takes place from Friday 31st May to Sunday 2nd June 2013 and Alex Sharphouse and Old Hall Farm will be attending the Festival on all three days. Opening times are from 10.00am to 5.30pm. Entrance to the Festival is £15.00 for adults and £13.50 for seniors/students; discounts for advance bookings are available online.
