The Holker Garden Festival in Cark-in-Cartmel, south Cumbria, celebrates its 21st anniversary this June, with a three day summer spectacle from Friday 31st May to Sunday 2nd June 2013, showcasing only the very best of gardening, countryside, food and crafts.
Hosted by Lord and Lady Cavendish and set in the beautiful Holker Parkland, the 21st Holker Garden Festival promises to be an exciting blend of new attractions and the return of some familiar and much loved sights.
Show Stopping Gardens
Each year, Holker are proud to showcase some of the very best of gardening and horticulture. Be inspired by spectacular show gardens, wander through the fragrance filled Horticultural Marquee, spot some unusual and rare plants and admire beautiful floral art exhibits.
An exciting schedule of events and activities await in the Holker Tipi Village, plus plenty of family fun at the Traditional Victorian Fairground. Or, take a step back in time and experience traditional, 19th century farm life, as Old Hall Farm attend the 21st show. Enjoy a ride around the Holker Parkland in a horse and cart, pulled by magnificent, 18hh shire horses.
The Holker Garden Theatre
Live and inspiring demonstrations and Q&A sessions will take place every day in the Holker Garden Theatre, with some well known faces, including Clarissa Dickson-Wright and Ivan Day. Sit back and listen to the experts, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
A mouth watering selection of artisan food, drink and North West produce will be on offer in the ‘Made in Cumbria Food Hall’ to tempt those taste buds. From delightful afternoon teas to hearty hog roasts and gourmet pies to a refreshing glass of Pimms, whatever you fancy, you’ll be sure to find a satisfying bite to eat!
There will be a variety of handmade gifts and wares in the Craft Hall and numerous local businesses demonstrating traditional skills such as dry stone walling and wicker craft, all ready to inspire the creative in you.
The Holker Garden Festival takes place from Friday 31st May to Sunday 2nd June 2013. Opening times are from 10.00am to 5.30pm. Entrance to the Festival is £15.00 for adults and £13.50 for seniors/students; discounts for advance bookings are available online. Children under 16 go free when accompanied by an adult.
