Holker proves a real draw for FreeRider passengers
Holker proves a real draw for FreeRider passengers as season total more than doubles.
The South Lakes FreeRider, a free bus service linking some of the Southern Lake District's most prominent attractions, has welcomed almost 7,000 passengers during just 30 days. That compares to 3,000 passengers during the same period in 2011.
The service is the result of an innovative collaboration between prominent local tourism businesses, who joined together to fund and implement this great new way to get around. Holker was a founding partner in the group formed to fill in the gaps in the local transport offer for tourists.
The 2012 FreeRider launched in July and ran until the end of last week, carrying an average of 230 people during each day of operation.
