Welcome to Holker Hall & Gardens

Meet the exhibitor: Oubas Knitwear

As we prepare to celebrate the 22nd Holker Garden Festival, we’d like to introduce you to some of the exhibitors that will be attending this year’s show.

We are delighted to welcome Oubas Knitwear to their very first Holker Garden Festival.  Kate Wilson is the lady behind this artisan knitwear brand; creating luxurious accessories ranging from scarves, wraps, jumpers, cardigans, and homewares.

All pieces are lovingly handmade by Kate in a small studio in Ulverston using yarns from carefully sourced British and Italian spinners, and an old knitting machine once used in the Borders.

Kate graduated in 2010 from Winchester School of Art with a BA(hons) in Fashion Knitwear. Gaining valuable experience whilst working for lifestyle brand Toast, she then moved back to Cumbria to found Oubas, and she’s still only 25!!  In fact the name 'Oubas' is derived from 'Oubas Hill', the area where all pieces are designed and created in Ulverston, Cumbria. Kate takes inspiration from the rich landscape to create her unique accessories, combining traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary eye.

Take a look at the full product range online at www.oubasknitwear.co.uk. The Holker Garden Festival takes place in Cark-in-Cartmel from Friday 30th May to Sunday 1st June 2014. For more information or to buy advance tickets visit www.holkerfestival.co.uk or call 015395 58838.
