Our popular Food Market returns next month with a festive theme and a special appearance from everyone’s favourite Christmas visitor.
On Sunday 13th December up to fifteen local and regional businesses including producers of fine meats and cheese, beer and spirits and an array of sweet treats will be sampling their produce and sharing Christmas recipe tips and ideas for the big day.
Along with the chance to sample the very best in local artisan produce, families and younger visitors will have the opportunity to visit Santa in his cabin in the courtyard and take part in special Christmas crafts. New for this year, Millom based Holborn Hill Royal Brass Band Juniors will be entertaining the crowds in true traditional style between 11am and 1pm.

This weekend’s damp weather didn’t affect the fiery fun at Holker with a full house for the chilli eating competitions hosted by Darth Naga. A packed Courtyard watched on as 10 competitors (on each day) took part in the lively competition. Saturday’s competition was the most entertaining yet with Darth commenting it was best one he had ever hosted - humorous contestants were encouraged by the lively crowd - with Jordan from Barrow taking centre stage. Joint winners took the trophy on Saturday and Ed Duffy was crowned Sunday’s winner after reaching around 250,000 scovilles.
