Finalists were revealed on Friday and the Festival is competing in the category of ‘Tourism Event of the Year’ alongside Woolfest and

C-ART (Eden Arts.)

Sarah Ross, Festival Director says; “It’s a huge honour to be shortlisted in the awards and it is a great boost for the profile of the Holker Garden Festival and testament to all the hard work that goes in to staging such a large event. The awards highlight the very best that Cumbria has to offer and to be a part of that is a privilege.”

The winners will be named at a ceremony held at Rheged in Penrith on May 24.

The Holker Garden Festival takes place from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th June. For further information or to book tickets visit the website at www.holkerfestival.co.uk or telephone call 015395 58838.

Full house for popular chilli eating competition

This weekend’s damp weather didn’t affect the fiery fun at Holker with a full house for the chilli eating competitions hosted by Darth Naga.  A packed Courtyard watched on as 10 competitors (on each day) took part in the lively competition.   Saturday’s competition was the most entertaining yet with Darth commenting it was best one he had ever hosted - humorous contestants were encouraged by the lively crowd - with Jordan from Barrow taking centre stage.  Joint winners took the trophy on Saturday and Ed Duffy was crowned Sunday’s winner after reaching around 250,000 scovilles.
