Horticulture is the star of the show once again at the Holker Garden Festival as organisers welcome The Kitchen Garden Roadshow in to its Garden Theatre for the very first time. Sponsored by Kitchen Garden Magazine, the Roadshow will host a full line up of gardening experts including Saturday’s special Festival guest, Charlie Dimmock.
Visitors are invited to take a seat and enjoy listening to the team of experts who will offer practical gardening advice, talks, and demonstrations, and answer your questions on all kinds of gardening subjects. Fruit, flowers, veg, lawns, houseplants - whatever the question the team will come up with an answer!
Host for the three days is Martin Fish, well known garden writer, BBC broadcaster and Garden Advisor to RHS Harlow Carr. He will be joined by the editor of Kitchen Garden, Steve Ott who has a wealth of gardening knowledge and Rob Smith, allotment gardener and winner of BBC Two’s Big Allotment Challenge.
TV gardener Charlie Dimmock will be Holker’s special guest on Saturday 4th June and will join the Roadshow team to answer all your gardening questions. See Charlie at 11.30am for ‘An Audience with Charlie Dimmock’ and again at 2.30pm as she joins the gardening panel for a fun and lively Q&A session with compere, Martin Fish.

This weekend’s damp weather didn’t affect the fiery fun at Holker with a full house for the chilli eating competitions hosted by Darth Naga. A packed Courtyard watched on as 10 competitors (on each day) took part in the lively competition. Saturday’s competition was the most entertaining yet with Darth commenting it was best one he had ever hosted - humorous contestants were encouraged by the lively crowd - with Jordan from Barrow taking centre stage. Joint winners took the trophy on Saturday and Ed Duffy was crowned Sunday’s winner after reaching around 250,000 scovilles.
