This weekend’s damp weather didn’t affect the fiery fun at Holker with a full house for the chilli eating competitions hosted by Darth Naga. A packed Courtyard watched on as 10 competitors (on each day) took part in the lively competition. Saturday’s competition was the most entertaining yet with Darth commenting it was best one he had ever hosted - humorous contestants were encouraged by the lively crowd - with Jordan from Barrow taking centre stage. Joint winners took the trophy on Saturday and Ed Duffy was crowned Sunday’s winner after reaching around 250,000 scovilles.
Holker Hall in Cark-In-Cartmel is preparing for its largest ever Winter Market in 13 years, with 80 stalls already confirmed.
From small beginnings back in 2004, the Winter Market has grown in popularity with both exhibitors and the general public. “We’re thrilled to see that this event is thriving and that businesses are booking stalls as it’s a really popular date on our event calendar for visitors. We always find there’s a lovely atmosphere across the weekend as people are getting in that Christmas spirit and want to find something a little more unusual for gifts and stocking fillers,” comments Jillian Rouse, Head of Visitor Services.
