Record numbers attended the 13th Holker Winter Market this weekend, as visitors flocked to start their Christmas shopping early. 8,000 people flooded through the gates across the two days, with around 4,000 attending on each day – in total, nearly 2,000 more than previous years.
“Wow – what a fantastic weekend it’s been! The cars just kept coming through the gates and the whole Courtyard was bustling with people. We had lots of lovely comments about the great atmosphere and I know that many were buying Christmas presents early. The live entertainment and music proved very popular and the food and coffee stalls had long queues”, comments Jillian Rouse, Head of Visitor Services.
After a particularly rainy 2015, the weather across the whole weekend was glorious with blue skies on the Saturday. The event was the largest market yet with more than 80 stalls. “We were taking bookings for trade stands right up to the week before the event. We would like to thank all those that attended including the exhibitors – I know that some sold out on Sunday afternoon, so it was a good weekend had by all! The team and I are thrilled, and can’t wait to start planning next year’s market,” comments Jillian.
The Holker Winter Market is just one of the many dates for the diary as Holker continues to expand their calendar of events across the year. The next will be the Holker Food Market on 11th December.
