Don’t forget to tune in to Masterchef tomorrow night (Wednesday 15th February) to see the competitors use Holker venison, partridge and Saltmarsh lamb in the latest round of this exciting series. The episode was filmed just a few miles from here at Bouth. We had great fun with the crew. If you feel like recreating any of the dishes shown in the show our Food Hall staff would be happy to advise.....

The remaining six travel to the Cumbrian countryside for a lesson in just how exciting British ingredients can be. Expert forager and Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan has made his name using foraged and locally-sourced produce at his Cartmel restaurant, L'Enclume. The contestants are taken out to the fields, shoreline and hedgerows of the local area to find the edible treats that are on offer, before working in their most challenging conditions yet - a temporary kitchen set up in a local farmer's barn. They must create a delicious lunch for Simon's 25 guests, including the local food producers and farmers that he works with. With a range of locally-sourced and foraged ingredients to choose from, the contestants must impress with dishes that showcase the wonderful produce
.

Full house for popular chilli eating competition

This weekend’s damp weather didn’t affect the fiery fun at Holker with a full house for the chilli eating competitions hosted by Darth Naga.  A packed Courtyard watched on as 10 competitors (on each day) took part in the lively competition.   Saturday’s competition was the most entertaining yet with Darth commenting it was best one he had ever hosted - humorous contestants were encouraged by the lively crowd - with Jordan from Barrow taking centre stage.  Joint winners took the trophy on Saturday and Ed Duffy was crowned Sunday’s winner after reaching around 250,000 scovilles.
