Welcome to Holker Hall & Gardens

Picture Perfect for Holker’s Photography Competition

Holker Hall & Gardens in Cumbria is delighted to announce that budding amateur photographer, nine year old Heather North from Kendal, is the winner of their ‘Days You’ll Remember’ photography competition. Her winning photograph is of her little sister Zoe and was taken in Holker’s wild flower meadow on a sunny day in August.

Amateur photographers were invited into the Holker Gardens on four dedicated days in August to photograph any part of the formal gardens, parkland and exterior of the Hall and asked to submit their favourite shot. Holker enlisted the expert help of professional photographer, Val Corbett to pick one winner from a shortlist of seven. Val comments; “I was very impressed with all the images submitted but for me Heather’s photograph really captured the beauty of Holker’s gardens in the summer time and is a worthy winner.”

Heather began taking photographs with her very own digital camera from the age of three, guided by her dad who is a keen photographer and who also entered the Holker competition. Heather says “I really like taking photographs and when dad told me about the competition I knew I wanted to enter it. I’m really pleased that I beat my dad too!”

Heather’s image will be included in the 2012 ‘Days You’ll Remember’ Holker visitors leaflet with 120,000 copies printed and distributed across the North West region.
