This year walkers taking part in the RNLI Cross Bay Walk will gather at Holker Hall before the event and return to the Hall for refreshments after a long hard day. The RNLI hopes to raise around £10,000 to support the work of volunteer lifeboat crews from this year's walk and it is hoped that the added incentive of a warm welcome and some much needed refreshment at the Hall after the event will encourage a record number of entrants. Full details of how to register for the event can be found on www.rnli.org.uk/crossbaywalk.
Lord and Lady Cavendish are delighted to be able to support the event as they have long admired the work of the RNLI in the Morecambe Bay area and further afield.
The Ilex Bar & BrasserieOpen for lunches - including a very special Sunday lunch -
This weekend’s damp weather didn’t affect the fiery fun at Holker with a full house for the chilli eating competitions hosted by Darth Naga. A packed Courtyard watched on as 10 competitors (on each day) took part in the lively competition. Saturday’s competition was the most entertaining yet with Darth commenting it was best one he had ever hosted - humorous contestants were encouraged by the lively crowd - with Jordan from Barrow taking centre stage. Joint winners took the trophy on Saturday and Ed Duffy was crowned Sunday’s winner after reaching around 250,000 scovilles.
