A brand new free bus service will provide complimentary travel to and from some of the Lake District’s most prominent attractions and accommodation providers this summer.

The South Lakes FreeRider is a must for any visitor to Cumbria and will run Monday to Friday from the 25th of July to the 2nd of September 2011, providing hassle-free travel to and from some of Cumbria’s most renowned attractions including Windermere Lake Cruises, Lakeland Motor Museum, Holker Hall, Ducky’s Farm Park, Cartmel Traders, Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, Haven Holiday Park and Cartmel Village Stores, Rusland Pool Hotel and Lakeside Hotel.

The service will offer eight shuttles each day from 9.15am onwards, each stopping to collect and drop off visitors at all ten attractions or accommodation providers.

It’s the perfect solution for all who wish to explore Cumbria’s great attractions without having to worry about fuel costs, busy roads, directions or parking. Passengers can relax and take in the sights as they travel and the service will reduce their carbon footprint too!

Ends.

Full house for popular chilli eating competition

This weekend’s damp weather didn’t affect the fiery fun at Holker with a full house for the chilli eating competitions hosted by Darth Naga.  A packed Courtyard watched on as 10 competitors (on each day) took part in the lively competition.   Saturday’s competition was the most entertaining yet with Darth commenting it was best one he had ever hosted - humorous contestants were encouraged by the lively crowd - with Jordan from Barrow taking centre stage.  Joint winners took the trophy on Saturday and Ed Duffy was crowned Sunday’s winner after reaching around 250,000 scovilles.
