Holker Hall & Gardens in Cumbria is the setting for two outdoor theatre performances this August, one of which will star actress Georgina Sherrington, best known for playing the accident prone Mildred Hubble in the children's TV series, The Worst Witch.
On Tuesday 24th August at 2.30 pm, Georgina will play the lead role in the open air, Chapterhouse production of Beauty and the Beast, set in the beautiful grounds of Holker Hall.
Enjoy an afternoon of fun and family entertainment and watch this heart-warming story of friendship. Laura Turner's inspired twist on this classic fairytale will delight children of all ages, as the character of Louisa and her friends transform their ordinary 1940's garden into a magical setting for the fairytale, Beauty and the Beast. Children are invited to attend in fancy dress for the opportunity to join the cast in a fairytale parade during the interval.
Georgina comments; "I am incredibly excited to be joining Chapterhouse for their summer tour of 'Beauty and the Beast'. This was one of my favourite stories when I was young and this new adaptation is sure to capture all the magic of the classic fairytale."

The Ilex Bar & BrasserieOpen for lunches - including a very special Sunday lunch -
This weekend’s damp weather didn’t affect the fiery fun at Holker with a full house for the chilli eating competitions hosted by Darth Naga. A packed Courtyard watched on as 10 competitors (on each day) took part in the lively competition. Saturday’s competition was the most entertaining yet with Darth commenting it was best one he had ever hosted - humorous contestants were encouraged by the lively crowd - with Jordan from Barrow taking centre stage. Joint winners took the trophy on Saturday and Ed Duffy was crowned Sunday’s winner after reaching around 250,000 scovilles.
