The Holker Garden Festival is an annual three day event in the middle of summer showcasing all that Cumbria has to offer. The Festival combines the very best of gardens, food and country life, across 25 acres of beautiful countryside.
The 2010 Festival will take place from 4th - 6th June and will be held in the beautiful grounds of Holker Hall & Gardens, near Grange-over-Sands, in Cumbria. Lord & Lady Cavendish are delighted to be hosting the Festival for the 18th year and invite visitors to enjoy a weekend exploring this wonderful event and family owned estate.
This year the Festival will also welcome special guest Carol Klein, one of the most familiar gardening experts and regular presenter of BBC Gardeners' World.
The Holker Festival includes an array of spectacular attractions including beautiful displays from top horticulturalists, show gardens, and floral marquees, plus a full arena programme, including medieval jousting and traditional craft demonstrations. The Festival has something for all tastes and interests with over 400 exhibitors, including arts and crafts, animal display's and children's activities, with the opportunity to buy beautiful hand made gifts such as jewellery, toys and gifts for the home.
A range of delicious foods will be available in the 'Made in Cumbria' tent, with nearly 100 exhibitors of local foods. From Holker Estate Shorthorn Beef and locally hand-made cheeses to freshly baked breads, puddings and cakes, there is a wonderful array of local, artisan produce to satisfy all culinary tastes.
The Holker Garden Festival is the perfect place to enjoy a wonderful day out with friends and family in picturesque surroundings. Once you have browsed the Festival, why not take advantage of the complimentary shuttle bus service which takes you directly from the show field to Holker Hall & Gardens. Relax and enjoy a delightful afternoon tea in the Courtyard Cafe or take the opportunity to purchase a few treats and gifts in the Food Hall and Holker Gift Shop.
During the Festival, Holker's Head Gardener, Yvonne Cannon, will be welcoming visitors into the Holker Gardens to experience a special guided tour. Taking place daily at 1.30 pm, Yvonne will guide visitors on a leisurely walk around the magnificent gardens, taking in features and planting including Lord and Lady Cavendish's ever-expanding collection of rare and exotic plants and beautiful seasonal walks designed for visitors of all ages. Special Garden tours with Yvonne Cannon are free of charge.
Holker Hall will be open from 2.00pm to 5.00pm daily throughout the Festival for the chance to see one of Britain's best loved stately homes. Entrance to the Hall during the Festival is £3.00.
Festival opening times for 2010 are from 10am to 5.30pm. Entrance to the Holker Garden Festival is £13.50 for adults and £12.00 for seniors/students. Advance purchase price is £11.50 for adults, £10.00 for seniors/students. Children under 16 go free when accompanied by an adult.
