Exciting New Art Market
The event which is limited to painters and printmakers is unique in the area and will take the format of an open art market. Artists will be present at their stalls to discuss their artwork and take commissions from the public. An array of artwork in a range of media and themes will be available as original work as well as giclée prints and cards at affordable prices.
The organiser, John Driskel, said “As a local artist I have always felt that there is a shortage of local outdoor art markets which are so popular on the continent and other parts of the world.
We are aiming to address this by hosting a number of local markets dedicated to painters and printmakers during the following months and we are very excited that Holker Hall has offered us a venue for some of these on the Estate on 1st of May and at their Garden Festival in June. We hope that we will be able to establish a regular outdoor programme for local artists and that support of our events by the public will grow as we move forward with the project.”
The art market together with other facilities on the Estate provides an opportunity for a fantastic day out for the whole family. A wonderful breakfast and lunch can also be ordered from the Cafe and there is free access to the Food Hall and Gift Shop. Access to the Hall and Gardens is available for £12 per person.
Holker Hall’s Head of Visitor Services, Jillian Rouse commented “We are delighted to add the Art Market to our growing calendar of events and look forward to seeing the artwork”.
