Music in the Garden at this year’s Holker Garden Festival

Catherine Ashcroft, a Uilleann piper and whistle player will be performing on the Friday. Catherine won All Britain titles on both whistle and pipes in 2007, and formed the duo “Mochara” with Northern Irish singer songwriter, Maurice Dickson, performing in the UK, Ireland and Europe.

Flautist and Contralto, Anastasia Micklethwaite will perform on the Saturday.Anastasia was educated at Chetham’s School of Music and at Trinity College, Cambridge. At the age of 12 she held principal positions with the National Children’s Orchestra and National Youth Orchestra of GB.Anastasia moved to Cumbria in 2002 to set up a regional music centre and is the Director of Music at Sedbergh Preparatory School.

On Sunday, visitors can enjoy a violin trio.Leah Grieves, Macheck Rzepczyk and Nicola Rich will be representing the Furness Music Centre.FMC is a non-auditioned group of musicians and singers where everyone is welcome from beginners, to those who are experienced, diploma-level performers.

The Ulverston International Music Festival 2016 will run from June 8- 19, opening with the English Touring Opera, Don Giovanni and closing with a community charity day featuring The Haffner
