Visitors enjoy woodfired pizza and local ales at newly launched pop-up pub

THE promise of freshly cooked, wood fired pizza and locally made drinks in beautiful surroundings saw visitors flocking to a new pop-up pub last weekend.


The sun shone for the launch of the experience in The Courtyard at Holker Hall on Saturday, July 6.


The pop-up pup and pizza oven – which features unique recipes using ingredients grown or produced in the grounds of the Grade-II listed home, will now return weekly through the summer for the remainder of July and August.


Heather Creasey, Holker Hall and Gardens general manager, said: “It was wonderful to see so many people here to make the most of our pop-up pub.


“The weather was good so people were able to sit outside and enjoy fresh food and a selection of real ales from Hawkshead Brewery.


“The atmosphere was perfect. Everyone seemed to have a great time.”


The pop-up pub at Holker Hall takes place in The Courtyard, an area which is free to enter, from 3pm.


The event was first held on Saturdays throughout the summer months last year. Its popularity has seen it return for a second season in 2019.


Heather added: “Pizzas are cooked to order on site and include toppings such as estate-reared Holker Venison meatballs and wild garlic & cheesy garlic bread from our very own kitchen garden.


“We hope as many people as possible will come along to try it out this year.”
