Spook-tacular Holker Hall to host The School of Magic this Halloween

THE School of Magic awaits budding young witches and wizards at magical Holker Hall this Halloween.

The magnificent stately home near Grange-over-Sands is set to host a series of ghostly activities to celebrate the spookiest weekend of the year.

There will be lots to keep little ghouls spellbound with a fun pumpkin trail in place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 25, 26 and 27 for those keen to go in search of Jack-o-Lanterns through the award-winning gardens.

Meanwhile, The School of Magic – an immersive theatre experience set against the Gothic architecture of the 400-year-old hall itself – will go ahead at set times on Friday and Saturday.

Holker Hall and Gardens manager, Heather Creasey, said the whole weekend was shaping up to offer fun for all the family.

“Our immersive School of Magic sessions are perfect for little witches and wizards keen to learn about spellmaking and potions.

“Set here at atmospheric Holker Hall, it is certainly going to be an exciting way to mark Halloween.

“There is plenty to enjoy for visitors of all ages, however, with our gardens and grounds looking resplendent in their autumn colours – as well as tasty, homemade treats available in The Courtyard Cafe.”

Children are also being encouraged to arrive at Holker in Halloween fancy dress.

A giant selfie frame in The Courtyard will provide a perfect opportunity for photos – with images shared on social media using the hashtag #HauntedHolker in with a chance of winning tickets to meet Father Christmas at the hall on Sunday, December 8.

Heather added: “We would all love to see lots of little witches, wizards, ghosts and ghouls here over the Halloween weekend, so come dressed up to be in with a chance of winning a prize.”

The School of Magic will take place at 10am to 11.30am, 12 noon to 1.30pm, 2.30pm to 4pm and from 4.30pm to 6pm.

Tickets must be booked and cost £12.50 per child, including admission for one accompanying adult. Tickets for additional accompanying adults cost £5.50. To book visit

The pumpkin trail costs £2 per child with an adult buying a Holker Hall garden ticket.
