Supper & Stories Wild Venison Week Special

Thursday, 08 Oct 2026 06:30 PM

Description:

A special Supper & Stories evening will bring together fine food, forestry and conversation, with Joe Groom, Wildlife Officer for Forestry England.

Joe Groom is a wildlife and forestry professional with over 15 years of experience across the UK and internationally. Joe has spent more than a decade with Forestry England, most recently serving as Wildlife Manager for North England Forest District, covering Cumbria and Lancashire. In this role, he supports the district and wider organisation in delivering resilient, nature-rich and accessible forests through sustainable woodland management. His responsibilities include supporting woodland establishment, timber production, nature recovery initiatives, deer and wildlife management, and the delivery of conservation and habitat enhancement projects across the North West.

Joe will be explaining the wider issues around why responsible deer management is an essential part of caring for the landscape –  and why adopting sustainable wild venison in our diet can help save our ancient woodlands.

Special Supper & Stories Menu (Thursday 8th October):

Welcome drinks on arrival, then canapes, including: wild venison Yorkshire pudding, Royal haggis tartlets with whiskey cream, wild venison hunters pies, smoked wild venison sausage with Cumberland sauce.

The main event:

Wild venison haunch, damson jus, celeriac dauphinoise and tender stem broccoli.

This special edition of Supper & Stories takes place on Thursday 8th October from 6:30pm, £29.95 per person. Given the nature of the event, on this occasion we aren’t able to offer vegetarian/vegan meal alternatives.
