Holker Hall was the setting this week for an important economic discussion as the Governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey, and senior members of his team met with leading Cumbrian businesses to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the region’s economy.
The roundtable brought together representatives from across Cumbria’s business community, creating a rare opportunity for direct dialogue with the UK’s central bank on issues ranging from inflation, investment and workforce dynamics, to interest rates, cost pressures, and inheritance tax. The group discussed these important topics over lunch in the Dining Room, a setting that has hosted the exchange of important ideas for centuries.
Speaking after the event, Holker Group Chief Executive Allen Gibb said:
