Admissions
We are an RHS partner garden and a member of Historic Houses. We are delighted to welcome members of these organisations upon production of their membership card – there is no need to book in advance, please see your card issuer for terms and conditions of use.

Purchase Tickets
There is no need to pre-book tickets for your visit to the Hall & Gardens – just come along and pay at the kiosk when you arrive. Advance tickets for our special events can be purchased here.

Cashless Payments
We accept both cash and cashless payments across the site.

Dogs Welcome
Dogs are very welcome everywhere at Holker, except inside the Hall. We kindly ask that they are kept on leads at all times, please also ‘pick up’ after them and make use of the bins provided throughout the Estate.

Wayfinding
Our knowledgeable Hosts and Guides are always at hand to advise. Guidebooks will provide a wider and more in-depth history of Holker. For adventurers who wish to discover the Holker Estate for themselves please pick up a copy of our grounds map from the information kiosk by the Courtyard Cafe.

Etiquette
Please do not pick our flowers. Feel free to picnic on the lawns. Our Café sells delicious snacks, but you are welcome to bring your own food and drink. Feel free to bring your yoga mat but please don’t play music or ball games. Smoking is not permitted in any food areas or inside the property buildings. Please do not ride your bicycles in the Park, Gardens or the Café Courtyard.

Resident Animals
As you enter Holker, Fallow Deer can be seen grazing across the grounds towards Morecambe Bay. By the Fountain you are likely to encounter our beautiful East Indian Cayuga ducks. You may also meet various friendly dogs belonging to any one of the home team here.

Accessibility
Externally, the Grounds are accessible to all. A series of ramps run the entire length of the Elliptical Garden and the Estate is landscaped with smooth pathways. Our property map will guide you to these. Wheelchair access to the Hall is limited to the ground floor only.

As well as discounted Hall & Gardens admission, we offer a variety of group benefits with competitive rates for groups of 12 or more and further incentives for drivers and group organisers.

Accessibility
There is wheelchair access throughout the site with the exception of the first floor of the Hall. The full Hall can be experienced via the Holker Hall App. Entry to the Hall is available to wheelchair users with any ticket.
We offer free admission to accompanying essential carers on production of any of the following: an attendance allowance letter, a Carers’ allowance letter of award, a disability living allowance letter or proof of personal independence Payments – please do get in touch if you have any questions at all.
Facilities
- Designated parking is available for Blue Badge holders, centrally located to all facilities.
- Disabled Toilets are located within the Courtyard Café complex and are signposted.
- Tours can be tailor made, by prior arrangement, for the hearing and sight impaired and for disabled visitors.
Assistance Dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome in the Hall, Gardens & Parkland (on leads), Shops and Café.

Directions
Holker Hall and Gardens are approximately 5 miles south of the A590, the main road running from Kendal to Barrow-in-Furness.
Travelling by car
- If travelling from the M6 (north or south), leave at J36 and head west along the A590. Follow the brown signs through Grange-over-Sands, Flookburgh and Cark. We are about 1 mile beyond the village of Cark.
- If travelling from the central Lake District, follow the A592 south to Newby Bridge, turn right on to the A590 and then turn left on to the B5278 at Haverthwaite. We are approximately 5 miles south of Haverthwaite.
- If travelling from West Cumbria, follow the A595 south to Grizebeck, then the A5092 link to the A590. Follow the A590 east for 3 miles, turning right on to the B5278 at Haverthwaite. We are approximately 5 miles south of Haverthwaite. Post code for SATNAV is LA11 7PL.
Travelling by train
- The nearest railway station to Holker Hall and Gardens is Cark-in-Cartmel which is a 15- minute walk away. Alternatively, Oxenholme near Kendal is on the West Coast mainline and is a 40 min drive from Holker.

Holker Cafe, Formal Gardens & Gift Shop are open Friday to Sunday from 1st November to 22nd December. The Hall will be open from 1st November to 8th December.
Gates Open 10.30am and Close 4pm.
The Deer Park continues to be open dawn till dusk each day unless otherwise indicated.
Please note there is no parking within the Hall and Gardens Car Park during site closure.
